Vintage Macintosh: PowerMac G4 Cube
![]()
Produced from August 2000 through July 2001 this amazingly compact PowerMac G4 Cube came as a complete surprise to the Apple community. Standing 7.7” square by 10” tall this G4 did everything that the iMac DV did, minus the integrated monitor and with the same 450 Mhz G4 processor as the PowerMac G4 tower. Like the iMac the Cube is fanless computer cooled by convection. The newest version for the Power Mac G4 Cube is Power Mac G4 Cube Firmware Update 4.1.9, which is only for the Cube. To install this firmware update, you must boot into Mac OS 9.1-9.2.2 from a writable partition.
